Animouse v. 1.0 (20/5/1996, Sentience Software) Readme/What's new
Animouse ver 1.0 DEMO - READ.ME ------------------------------- Welcome to the demo of Sentience Software's Animouse, a fantastic addition to your OS/2 desktop that will bring your mouse pointer to life (and make all your friends' computers pale in comparison). This demo includes two sample animations that should give you some idea of what to expect from the program. It has a 30 minute limit on animation, and does not let you create your own animations. We understand that this crippling may seem a bit extreme, but Animouse IS a commercial product, after all. It has been reported that Animouse blinks uncontrollably on some video cards, most notably the Tseng ET4000 based cards and some Trident cards. In addition, this blink varies from card to card. Some cards exhibit extreme blink with 2 color animations. Others, which have hardware acceleration, will be ROCK SOLID with these animations. Most current cards will exhibit a small amount of flicker with color animations, but not enough to really be bothersome. For this reason, you should try out both of the animations included with the demo. The 'Hand' animation is 2 color only while the 'Winwag' animation is 16 color. There are a good number of both of these types in the full version. Before you continue, please understand that Sentience Software is not responsible for any damages, problems, etc... that occur as a direct or indirect result of using this software or its installation facility. We have tried to make this program as bug free and system friendly as possible and have tested it to excess, but if you have any concerns feel free to contact us (see below). This README file is divided into the following categories: - System Requirements - Getting Help - NewDialogs option - Reporting Bugs - Installing Animouse - Trademarks - Your Satisfaction - Software Updates - Contacting Sentience Software System Requirements ------------------- * OS/2 Warp (and a system capable of running it) * SVGA (640x480x256) or higher video display Getting Help ------------ Animouse has extensive online help built in, so if you have any questions load up Animouse and click on 'help'. If you have problems loading it up, or if you need assistance in installing it, double check that you have followed the procedures outlined in the installation guide, and contact us if necessary (see below). NewDialogs Option ----------------- By opening the SETTINGS for the Animouse icon, you can add "-newdialogs" to the "parameters" field. This will cause Animouse to run with "Enhanced" windows. While this generally makes the Animouse window look spiffier, some video cards (eg. Cirrus Logic 5428) will suffer from screen corruption. While this does not affect you system's stability, it does tend to draw lines outside the Animouse window. This is a bug in the video drivers for your video card, so we can't really fix this. If you find that your system doesn't properly support the "-newdialogs" option, just don't use it. It has absolutely no effect on the actual functions of Animouse - just how the window looks. Reporting Bugs -------------- If you discover any bugs or encounter problems with Animouse on your system, record as much information as possible about your system, what was running in conjunction with Animouse at the time, what error message (if any) was displayed, etc. and contact us for help (see below). Installing Animouse ------------------- 1. Unzip the contents of the demo archive into a directory on your hard drive. 2. Type install 3. Follow the instructions in the install program Trademarks ---------- Animouse and Sentience Software are trademarks of Sentience Software.
